GE2024 - analysis ...

07 Jul 2024 60
Demographic analysis on a post election sample of 16000 voters. Some interesting factors at play underlying the overall results. Specifically, the high proportion of tory voters aged over 65 - due to them growing up under thatcher ... I wonder how many of them have actually noticed that the personal tax allowance is now less than the basic state pension [so they'll be paying tax on it] also the high proportion for the right-wing reform party in the lower socio-economic classes, and amongst older voters. GE2024 - losers' tears

07 Jul 2024 78
A barrel-full of extra bitter tears from the right-wing [fringe] reform party supporters. They got a [not] surprisingly large protest vote in many constituencies, even coming second in a significant number. But the FPTP system denied them more than a handful of seats. . not my image ; fair use & public entertainment

GE2024 - regional changes

05 Jul 2024 51
Some interesting regional variations in the way the population voted. For example; in the South, 107 seats were lost by the tories, and Labour gained 58 and the libdems 46 with the remaining three became reform or Green ... In contrast, the tory losses in the Midlands and the North mostly went [back] to Labour. . FACTUAL : not my image ; fair use & public information

The results of the overnight counting ... A landslide for Labour, a decent showing for the LibDems and some minor parties, But a massive dismissal of the tories and SNP. . FACTUAL : not my image : fair use & public information

GE2024 - seats by vote share, not FPTP

05 Jul 2024 1 56
FACTUAL. Infographic from the Manchester Evening News. The make-up of the results for the 2024 General Election if seats won fully reflected the votes cast. To me, that looks like a hung parliament, and both the tories & Labour would need one or more coalition partners to govern. In that scenario, reform & tories could be a likely partnership, but whether it would last is another matter entirely. . not my image ; fair use & public education
