{Models - 6,9} Selection of scratch-built 5" scale model engines and waggons. Featuring a model Warship class D813 "Diadem". These diesel-hydraulics [1958 to 1972] were based on the Western Region of British Railways, TOPS class 42, but never actually carried their TOPS references as their various non-standard features ensured any early demise, apart from two that were preserved, all the rest were scrapped. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_42

Having spoken to the sign-writer [Sarah Jarman] at the table just by the entrance, my eye was drawn to this display by the item on the top right. That's what is often referred to as a "Tin Turtle" , more properly, an armoured simplex, dating from The Great War [1914-18] - I'm somewhat familiar with a 12" to the foot version, named "Mary Ann" ... Just below is a well-waggon carrying a "nuclear flask" , which brought the 1984 testing in "Operation Smash Hit" to mind. [A class 46 + three carriages was deliberately crashed into a flask + waggon - at the weakest point, a top corner - the locomotive was travelling at approx 100mph [160kph] at the impact. There are several videos of this ...
