Yachts for sailing on the broads, moored in the "canal" that leads to Horsey Wind Pump [out of view to the right of this image"] from the Mere.

TiG - Spark of Light

13 Dec 2016 1 316
Broads cruiser "Spark of Light" moored at Wroxham. ( If my notes are right, if not it's at Potter Heigham) Lovely boat, nicely maintained brightwork; although the larger windows instead of portholes in the main cabin take away something.

TiG - fits under(just)

13 Dec 2016 221
Passing under Potter Heigham bridge, Norfolk Broads. A "bridge pilot" is available, but even so ... [apologies for focus and exposure being sub-standard, rushed to get in position and wasn't quite ready for the boat to shoot the bridge]

O&S - staithe seat

13 Dec 2016 6 7 413
Memorial seat just along the staithe at Horning from the Swan Inn. No idea what the plaque said. But a nice change from the usual benches, and the local youngsters can't sit on the back with their (dirty) feet on the seat.

gbw - Horning staithe

13 Dec 2016 1 408
In the evening calm, on the staithe outside The Swan Inn at Horning. We had just finished a rather nice meal. We called here with the "William Riley" pulling lifeboat a couple of years ago and it is mentioned in some of the Arthur Ransom books.

oaw - a few swans

13 Dec 2016 1 317
This many swans probably counts as a herd - guesstimated around 50 head ! They seem to be hoping that some of the tourists will feed them ...

oaw - Grebe family

21 Jul 2013 1 520
The whole Grebe family paddling down the river, passing the mooring staithe for the Acle Bridge Inn. Note the flood defences around the compound on the far bank.

oaw - Grebes

21 Jul 2013 483
Waiting at Acle Bridge Inn for the "William Riley" to arrive, we were watching a pair of Great Crested Grebe and their two juveniles. The adult on the left is bringing a small fish to feed the young, both of whom have made a dive to approach the parent, the first chick to arrive swallowed the offering whole in one go.

TiG - Wherry at Horning

21 Jul 2013 471
A restored / converted Broads Wherry, has just moored opposite Horning Staithe. Some of the crew are about to do some shopping.......

TiG - Chain Ferry

21 Jul 2013 2 8 688
Chain Ferry at Reedham - two car (or equivalent) capacity. Despite the caution signs...... at least one boat went through the narrow and closing gap between the ferry and the slipway, and was speeding, whilst we were waiting for "William Riley" to arrive.

TiG - Broads launch

21 Jul 2013 1 439
Very nice Broads launch seen at Wroxham (Landamores Boatyard).

TiG - Windmill and cruisers

21 Jul 2013 438
One of the official places for overnight mooring....... just one of the dozen wind pumps seen between Acle Bridge and Yarmouth. Some are in better condition than others.......although I think the remaining pumps are now powered by electricity rather than the local wind. (Note : there is an off-shore wind farm not that far away)

21 Jul 2013 1 756
