Large bench circular "rip" saw, driven by belts from overhead line shafts. It was built by Robinson & Son Ltd of Rochdale, England.
Used, as shown in the set-up here, for turning tree trunks into planks, one plank for each pass of the bed past the saw blade.
(Several "faults" with this display :- The blade is very rusty so hasn't been used for a long time, and is far too small for this log, also the guard is placed too far down. Probably never had a riving knife in operational days, compared to modern sawmill practices ...)
