The Kudremukha township developed primarily as an iron ore mining town where the government ran Kudremukha Iron Ore Company Ltd. (KIOCL). Shah of Iran financed the Kudramukha Iron Ore project. Once I left the country, the next administration not being interested in Ore import, the project was abandoned.
