Qui da me piove con qualche fiocco di neve e fa FREDDISSIMO, ma niente di nuovo, siamo nei giorni della merla : "per ripararsi dal gran freddo, una merla e i suoi pulcini, in origine neri come i maschi della stessa specie, si rifugiarono dentro un comignolo, dal quale emersero il 1º febbraio, tutti grigi a causa della fuliggine. Da quel giorno tutti i merli femmina e i piccoli furono grigi." Questa leggenda vuole giustificare in maniera favolistica il forte dimorfismo sessuale che si osserva nella livrea del merlo (turdus merula), che è bruna/grigia (becco incluso) nelle femmine, mentre è nera brillante (con becco giallo-arancione) nel maschio.
