Questa foto è un ricordo della bellissima giornata trascorsa in visita alla preziosa cittadina Catalana che vi consiglio di non perdere se capitate da quelle parti. Il ponte che vedete è di origine romanica (secolo XI), ma ha subito vari rimaneggiamenti, come ad esempio le torri fortificate, di epoca medioevale più tarda, che furono erette per far pagare il pedaggio. L'ultimo intervento fu la ricostruzione di un paio di arcate che erano state fatte saltare dai repubblicani, durante la guerra civile, per impedire il passo alle truppe franchiste. La particolare struttura angolare è legata all'esigenza di sfruttare punti saldi rocciosi nel letto del fiume (il Fluvià) per una posa sicura dei piloni. Oggi è meritatamente il simbolo della città. Il suo nome significa Ponte Vecchio. Qui sotto una foto (cliccabile) che mostra la torre fortificata costruita all'ingresso del ponte e quindi della città. English: The first reference we have to the bridge dates from the 11th century, and it has been rebuilt a number of times over the years. It has seven arches and is characterized by its angular form, a result of the placing of the pillars over the natural stones of the river. It is 105 meters long and 30 meters high, including the defense tower. In the medieval times, a county pagus was installed in the fortified tower, an obligatory toll paid to enter the town. The bridge was dynamited during the Civil War and later rebuilt by the architect Pons Sorolla, under the criteria of the State Architecture Office. The Plaça de la Independència, which refers to the War of Spanish Independence against Napoleon Bonaparte, is one of the best known and most frequented places in Girona. Located in Mercadal district in the city centre, is also known as Plaça de Sant Agustí, because formerly the Convent of Sant Agustí had been raised there. The interest of the square lies 19th-century style, despite it is surrounded by austere identical neoclassical buildings with porches dedicated to the defenders of the city of Girona during the sieges of 1808 and 1809. However, the symmetrical proportions of square corresponds more to current interventions than its architectural past. The municipal architect Marí Sureda was the first who thought up an arcaded square with loops closed and neoclassical, with some buildings having the same aesthetic proportions. The urbanization of the area only followed in part their schemes. The construction of the first theatres in this city, broke down the idea of Martí Sureda. Until the 18th century, what that architect had imagined could not be completed. This part of the city in Noucentisme style is a romantic and timeless creation, from one century to another, nowadays captivates inhabitants and visitors. Pont de les Peixateries Velles Tra i vari ponti che attraversano il fiume Onyar, ce n'è uno molto particolare, in ferro dipinto di rosso, che si trova proprio in corrispondenza delle cases penjades. È il ponte Eiffel, un ponte di ferro costruito da Gustave Eiffel nel 1877, lo stesso ingegnere che dopo qualche anno ideò la torre di Parigi. L'opera era stata progettata dall'ingegnere francese per essere posta all'interno della sua abitazione parigina. In seguito la città di Girona decise di acquistarla per sostituire un'antica pedana di legno rossa (come il colore del ponte) costruita sul fiume Onyar dai pescatori. Una iscrizione sul ponte recita: « Questo ponte venne costruito nell'anno 1877 per la casa di G. Eiffel di Parigi, fu installato in questo luogo dove prima c'erano delle passerelle rosse.
