BR Doncaster built 204hp 0-6-0 shunter No D2087 - or whats left of it - stands dumped at Landore (Swansea) on Sun19Mar72. Withdrawn in June of the previous year, it lingered on until March 1973 when it was cut up. These locos were later classed as 03, but this example didn't live long enough to become 03087. The adjacent Brush Type 4 had a number of subsequent identities:- 1665 47080 47838 and finishing up as 47779. Scanned

Electric versus hydraulic

Long before headlights became the norm, a number of Landore (Swansea) based EE Type 3s were so fitted. Here is diesel electric 6877 standing nose to nose with diesel hydraulic Western Type 4 number D1069 'Western Vanguard' at Landore. 6877 was renumbered to 37177 then converted to heavyweight 37885.
