20 Dec 2023 16 16 201
The remains of the station building at Bassenthwaite Lake on the former Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway. The station opened in 1865 and was closed by British Railways in 1966 along with the entire line west from Keswick. It has since been totally renovated and reopened as a Café and Special Events Venue. In 2019 a replica French-style steam locomotive with Wagons-Lits carriages used in the 2017 film of Murder on the Orient Express were installed on the site as part of a tourist development. HWW to everyone. Enjoy the day.

At first glance it looks like A1 Pacific 60163 Tornado is heading off to Leicester but the second arm down on the totem pole reveals that it is actually backing down into Platform 2 at Loughborough station. This brand new built locomotive was still running-in and carried a grey undercoat livery.
