HSB narrow gauge 2-6-2T 99 6001 enters Alexisbad from Gernrode on the Selketalbahn past a beautiful wooden building which houses the Elysium Cafe & Restaurant. Just visible on the right is the River Selke from which the railway takes its name.

Great Western Railway Class 5101 Large Prairie 2-6-2T 4160 which brought in our train from Blue Anchor is turned on the table alongside Minehead station.

The huge mountain of scrap at Cashmore's scrap yard on East Dock Road in Newport dwarfs British Railways 3MT 2-6-2 tank 82031 waiting its turn to die. Bundles of boiler tubes are neatly stacked but the cylinders & steam chests from unknown engines litter the pile behind. This was my only visit to Cashmores and all the steam had gone by year's end. A twist in the tale is that, although all of this class of locomotive were scrapped, today a group of enthusiasts are actually building a replica of a Class 3MT tank from scratch. 82045 is progressing well - see www.82045.org.uk/news/82045_news-may15.html
