A West Yorkshire scene taken from New Hey Road at Ainley Top. Huddersfield town centre lies deep in the fog-bound valley to the left. Castle Hill 7 km to the south east stands proud on the skyline.

The view southwards down Carr Lane in Slaithwaite is dominated by the massive stone viaduct carrying the ex-LNWR Standedge route railway line along the north side of the Colne Valley. The chimney is part of the Spa cotton-spinning Mill built in 1907. This vast mill is now the home of Spectrum Yarns and their well-known brand, Stylecraft Yarns.
