It's the diesel gala and visiting unique British Railways Clayton Type 1/Class 17 Bo-Bo diesel D8568 is dropping down the gradient into Rothley with the returning 14.35 ex-Loughborough. Built between 1962 and 1965 the Class 17 proved to be one of the least successful of the Type 1s & withdrawals took place from 1968 to 1971, meaning some members of the class had a working life of less than 5 years. Several were sold to industrial users; D8568 worked at Ribblesdale Cement in Clitheroe and is the only example preserved.
