he first steam train of the Dresden Steam Festival hauled by DR Class 23-10 2-6-2 35-1097 from Dresden Hauptbanhof to Rosswein west of the city. We intercepted the special at Meissen on the single track line. 35-1097 powers around the sharp curve on the un-electrified section south out of Meissen to Nossen after the one minute station stop at Meissen Triebischtal S-Bahn station. This was originally a main line to Leipzig but after the Second World War one track of the line was dismantled to provide reparations to the Soviet Union.
