"Castle HSTs to be withdrawn by Great Western Railway by the end of 2023" read the headline in 2022. Although I also read some may last into 2024 but still, better get some shots of them before they go... Several canine trainspotters on platform 1 show great interest in GWR HST 43154 Compton Castle (plus 43092 Cromwell's Castle on the tail) arriving on the 15.50 Penzance to Bristol Temple Meads train. Maybe they read the headline too! HBM to everyone. Enjoy the start of the week.

Brunel's Royal Albert Bridge, built for the Cornwall Railway in 1859, spans the River Tamar separating Devon and Cornwall. A short four-car GWR Class 43 diesel HST - power car 43098 Walton Castle at the head and 43155 on the rear is just about to exit Cornwall with 2P17 the 13.50 Penzance to Plymouth service. The HSTs have been progressively withdrawn from the ECML and Midland routes but they are still very active in the southwest. HFF & have a great weekend everyone.
