Taken from the train (GWR 2C77 the 16.18 from Plymouth) while crossing the River Tamar on Brunel's fabulous Royal Albert railway bridge.
Riverside on the left was the site of the Saltash Ferry which was had been in operation since Norman times and was the only crossing of the Tamar here until the railway arrived. It ceased to run in 1961 when the adjacent Tamar Road Bridge opened.
Devon to the left, Cornwall to the right.

We visited the beautiful North Cornwall coastal town of Port Isaac for the first time last year. We have spent a lot of time in Padstow but never made the 30 minute drive there. Despite the rain and wind it was well worth it.
In any case we could shelter from the storm in the many tourist shops & cafes with only a few tourists in them! This was the Chapel Cafe, hence the beautiful windows.

The view across Mounts Bay from Mousehole harbour - approx. 7km.
The island of St Michael's Mount was gifted to the Benedictine order of Mont Saint-Michel by Edward the Confessor in the 11th century and it was a priory of that abbey until the dissolution of the alien houses as a side-effect of the war in France by Henry V.

The village of Mousehole was once more important than Newlyn or Penzance as a port. It is a picturesque tourist spot these days.

Levant Mine and steam-driven Beam Engine at Trewellard, Pendeen near St Just in the far west of Cornwall. This historic tin mine is preserved by the National Trust and visits to see the engine and go underground are by appointment. Unfortunately we hadn't made one but the whole surface site was of interest including the lighthouse in the distance at Pendeen and the weather was perfect.
HFF. Have a great & peaceful weekend.

Sunrise over Little Petherick Creek off the River Camel just east of Padstow.
This attractive curving iron bridge was built by the North Cornwall Railway, later London and Southwestern Railway in 1899 when the line was extended from Wadebridge to Padstow. Padstow at the end of the “Withered Arm” was the final destination of the Atlantic Coast Express from London Waterloo but the line was closed completely in October 1966., It is now part of the Camel Trail foot and cycle path.
HFF & have a great weekend.
