Abbey Wood station Up platform looking west from the footbridge. The 1849 South Eastern & Chatham Railway buildings look a bit grubby. Commuters to London city centre observe the two trackmen at work. Today the station has changed completey out of recognition as Abbey Wood is the eastern terminus of the new Crossrail / Elizabeth line. On its way from Lancaster to Seascale the Class 101 diesel multiple unit pauses by the signal box at Rothley! During the Railways at Work Gala the dmu ran a shuttle between Loughborough & Rothley. Here it was waiting to return north at 10.16 having just reversed at Rothley Brook.

The driver of the northbound dmu is giving up the single line staff to the bobby.
