The village of Cong is well-known as Inisfree the village setting for the 1952 film The Quiet Man starring John Wayne & Maureen O'Hara. The connections with the film have led to the area becoming a tourist attraction. The evening light tints the whole village with a warm glow on this icy winter day. HWW to everybody. You can't beat a steam railway on a cold, misty winter's evening for atmosphere and Rothley station is full of it. With the gas lights flickering, the signal lamps glowing and GWR 2-8-0T 4247 arriving and departing the ambiance is perfect. (I'm not sure why the thumbnail is out of focus because the video itself is fine!!)

An evening stroll along the lakeside at Como. The lights heading steeply up the mountainside are on the Como-Brunate funicular railway.

Back in the UK and after putting our loco - 45305 - to bed I was on my way out when this view of Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 46521 illuminated by the setting sun caught my eye.
