Lips. The rain came to Calpe during our stay but despite the orange storm alert it was no more than a few hours of moderate rainfall and the sun shone again in the afternoon. The real storms were north of us where floods and road closures were reported in Denia & Javea. Thankfully nothing like on the scale of a few weeks ago. HBM to everyone. Enjoy the start of the new week.

In the tropics it can be very hot and humid but when you dress for the weather it's not so bad especially in the rain... :-) Happy Wet Wall Wednesday to everyone!

A train with a view of the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire. Crossing Stanway viaduct in the rain behind BR Standard 2 2-6-0 78019 visiting from the GCR. I travelled on the cushions from Toddington to Broadway to allow the cleaner to be assessed on his potential driving & braking skills - needed for when he passes out as a fireman should the driver suddenly become incapacitated.

A rainy day in Derbyshire & the Peak District.

A Northern Class 185 dmu heads south out of Leeds station over Globe Road bridge in the rain. There are lots of diesels running over these electrified lines! The bridge in the foreground is ex-LNWR and is part of the disused 1882 viaduct line to Farnley Junction, hopefully retained for a possible future reopening?

In very poor conditions 4-6-0 46100 Royal Scot climbs the gradient out of the Calder valley with the returning Saphos Rails Fellsman.

From under the shelter of platform 4's awning Cross-Country Trains Class 170 diesel multiple unit 170107 is seen entering Leicester Midland station from the north with 1N59 The 14.27 Stansted Airport to Birmingham New Street. Swain Street bridge passes over the whole railway scene.
