MAN 2500 series diesel railcar 2509 on the 16.22 tram/train service to Denia approaches Altea's 1911 station on the Alicante - Denia narrow gauge line.
Today this route is L9 of FGV (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana) and interfaces with the main Alicante overhead electrified tram system at Benidorm Intermodal station several kilometres to the right. We took the tam/train from Calpe & in both directions it was packed with passengers.
HFF everyone! Have a great weekend.

Early in 2023 Tram-trains finally ran all the way from Alicante to Denia on FGV's (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana) metre gauge line without any bustitution & here is the proof. We have just arrived in Denia terminus on Stadler unit 5004 Ifach from Calpe.
But it's not all about trams! HBM to everyone. Enjoy the day!

New Orleans tramcar number 922 glides along the central reservation on St Charles heading through the Garden District towards downtown. When we lived here I either walked into the office or took this tram which was a real buzz, given the alternative commuting options.
The subtropical nature of southern Louisiana is clear from this view. The palm trees thrived in the hot & humid climate. For a few weeks in January/February it could get cold as the weather fronts, normally stalled in the north of the state, pushed through. Then very occasionally even a frost was possible which killed the banana trees instantly although the palms were sturdier.

Overshadowed by Sheffield Hallam University campus & new office blocks the former MIdland railway station on the left in the Sheaf Valley was very quiet on this strike day.
The only railed transport in motion were Sheffield's Supertrams & Siemens-Duewag unit 121 is seen here heading to Malin Bridge.
HFF everyone. Enjoy your weekend.

The southern terminus of the former ESA metre gauge line from Alicante to Denia was at La Marina station and the original 1913 station building still stands.
FGV (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana) tram 4231 is seen entering the station from the north on an L5 service which will terminate a few 100 yards off to the left at Puerta del Mar.
HFF to everyone & have a great weekend.

Yellow-liveried standard gauge HTM 1100, a 600v DC American PCC tram built under licence in Belgium, is on a number 9 service heading for Vrederust from the Kurhaus in Scheveningen and has just crossed Koninginnegracht. This is the stop for Madurodam which is on the left.
We lived in the apartment block behind on Nieuwe Parklaan at the time & I used to catch this tram to the office in the Babylon Centre. I didn't need an alarm clock because the squealing of the wheels of the first tram of the day as it negotiated the bends across the canal immediately woke me up!
HFF and have a great weekend.

On a grey pandemic Friday afternoon Nottingham city centre was unsurprisingly deserted. The trams were still running and I captured NET Alstom Citadis type 302 tram number 229 at the Old Market Square (Slab Square) stop.
Nottingham's impressive Portland Stone Council House opened in 1929 forms the backdrop.

Two vintages of trams at the junction of Koninginnegracht and Dr Aletta Jacobsweg. Yellow-liveried HTM 1227, an American PCC tram built under license in Belgium, with a number 9 service is heading for the Kurhaus on the beach in Scheveningen. It is followed by new red and cream GTL8-I number 3014 on an 11 service. The system is standard gauge and is energised at 600v DC
Living on Niewe Parklaan at this time, I used to catch the number 9 to the Mobil office in the Babylon Centre which overlooked Den Haag Central station. Madurodam is behind the camera.
HFF & have great weekend.

These Kasseler Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (KVG) vehicules built by Alstom RegioCitadis in 2004 are dual voltage DC/AC tram-trains for use on the electrified network in and outside of Kassel. RBK712 & RBK714 are both heading away from Kassel Hauptbahnhof while the two units on the left are stabled in the sidings. The steep gradient down to the lower level and tunnel through onto the city centre streets is obvious.
