Winter returns with a vengence!

The light was going but Croagh Patrick was catching the last winter rays. Seen from Westport Co. Mayo.

A Saturday morning visit to the National Trust property at Baddesley Clinton between Solihull & Leamington Spa. The frozen lake, surrounding woods & fields make a very pleasant walk. HFF everybody & have a great weekend.

So much colour in November! A walk to visit the remains of a Roman aqueduct near Altea. The ruins were underwhelming but the flora en route were impressive. HFF to everyone. Have a great weekend.

You can't beat a steam railway on a cold, misty winter's evening for atmosphere and Rothley station is full of it. With the gas lights flickering, the signal lamps glowing and GWR 2-8-0T 4247 arriving and departing the ambiance is perfect. (I'm not sure why the thumbnail is out of focus because the video itself is fine!!)

A real winter in Leicester this year!

A real winter scene as Polish Railways 2-6-2 Ol49-23 gets up steam for its imminent departure from Poznan station on the 08.10 back to Wolsztyn. I had driven it on the 04.16 commuter train from Wolsztyn.

The secondman is pulling the points for 2-coach (M51189 & SC51803) Class 101 diesel multiple unit to come off shed to take the first train of this frosty day at 08.35 from Haworth down the valley to Keighley. However the dmu subsequently failed and the 08.35 was cancelled.

The forecast was sun & clouds after Tuesday's snow but the fog and low cloud in this area hid the sun all morning. There were still some beautiful scenes to capture though.

The Beast from the East(ern Region)! Before we left for Southall shed British Railways Standard 4-6-2 70013 Oliver Cromwell had to endure a blizzard in the siding at Norwich Thorpe. In fact we were off 90 mins late because that DB Schenker freight train on the left was blocking us in. Despite that we arrived on Southall shed only 60 minutes late. The weather hardly effected us except to make us bleeding cold of course!
