I spotted this unusual bench off the C. Marqués de Larios in Malaga's old town. The two gents holding it up didn't seem to mind when we sat on it... HBM to everyone. Enjoy the start of the new week.

The sun has shone (a bit) recently so we went for a walk around the Botanic Gardens - part of Leicester University. The crocus display is out but with the lousy weather of the last month it has been a bit subdued... A beautiful location though. HBM to everyone. Enjoy the start of the new week.

3 for the price of one! HFF, HBM & HWW.... The Leicester & Swannington Railway opened in July 1832 only 7 years after the Stockton & Darlington. It was not only the first public railway in the Midlands but also ranks as the 6th such undertaking in the country & the basis for the later, greater Midland Railway. The first train was actually driven by George Stephenson. It was initially built for freight, mainly coal, but at Leicester West Bridge a station was opened. The station closed to passengers as early as 1928 but the residents of Tudor Road in the background continued to enjoy the sounds of steam-hauled freight trains until1966. HFF to everyone. Lips. The rain came to Calpe during our stay but despite the orange storm alert it was no more than a few hours of moderate rainfall and the sun shone again in the afternoon. The real storms were north of us where floods and road closures were reported in Denia & Javea. Thankfully nothing like on the scale of a few weeks ago. HBM to everyone. These days most GCR passenger trains layover at Leicester North for an extra 15minutes to give passengers the chance to visit the footplate as we sit in the headshunt. When this bench was first installed on the Great Central Way - a former railway converted into a foot/cycle path - you could sit here and get a lovely view of the Meadows & King's Lock on the canal. Today it's long grass and tall metal fencing! HBM to everyone. Have a great start to the new week.
