Leicester Market is around 800 years old and was moved to the current site around 700 years ago. It is the largest outdoor covered market in Europe. It's looking a bit sad at the moment because it is in the middle of a total revamp. Temporarily moved to the other side of the Corn Exchange building the stalls will be relocated back on completion. The market place at Thorne, my home town, hasn't changed that much since I was a kid in the 1950s but the only building still fulfilling its original purpose is the White Hart pub dating from 1737. It no longer sells Thorne-brewed Darley's Ales though. HFF & have a great weekend.
