An evening walk through old Aylestone. The view from the 13th century St Andrew's churchyard of the farmhouse on Old Church Road which is dated 1723. Aylestone was a village 3 miles south of the city from Saxon times until 1891 when it was incorporated into the Borough, now city, of Leicester.

Yemen village 1994

A traditional Yemeni village near Sana'a. The stone construction of the houses blends perfectly with the rocks of the mountains. The green irrigated areas are mainly vegetables and maybe some qat fields. Jessops screwed up the developing of my slide film by treating it as a colour negative film instead. The colours were hardly life-like and the resolution low. I have spend some time in PhotoShop almost retrieving the colour but can do nothing about the resolution.

Aylestone Leicester 4th April 2020

Perhaps not an obvious cityscape but Aylestone was a village 3 miles south of the city from Saxon times until 1891 when it was incorporated into the Borough of Leicester. There are still "villagey" scenes if you know where to look. This view shows the red-brick wall of the old school, far left, the school house and the 13th century St Andrew's church. HFF everyone. Have a Happy Easter and keep safe.
