A load of empty spoil hoppers is hauled over a level crossing on the Fuxin Mining Railway. The motive power is one of the three unit overhead wire electric locomotives supplied by LEW of Henningsdorf in East Germany in 1960 and 1961.

Electric loco 6583, built by LEW at Hennigsdorf in 1950, heads a morning workers' shuttle on the Fuxin Mining Railway. The coaching stock can only be described as 'basic'.

Long gone scene on the Fuxin Mining Railway as SY 0941 shunts across one of the many level crossings under the watchful eyes of the crossing keeper. The electric locomotives were abandoned several years before steam finally ended here on 31st August 2016.

SY 1396 is on the servicing pit at the depot on the Fuxin coal railway. I would have gone lower, but the pit was full of filthy oily goo!

The dust flies as SY 1319 hurries a train of empties from the China Rail exchange sidings onto the Fuxin Coasl Railway. The usual trains seen on the Fuxin system tend to be short loads of coal or spoil, but occasionally something arrives that is more of a challenge for the locomotives. This train of at least 10 wagons appeared from the CNR exchange sidings at quite a speed and headed for the local power station.

With a locomotive and another train on the crossing the gateman has his work cut out keeping the cyclists back. Already they are encroaching between the barriers as SY 1319 passes. The Fuxin Mining Railway still operates a significant number of steam locomotives, but the electric system has been largely dismantled.

The Fuxin Mining Railway system in Liaoning Province is extansive with a multi-track main line in the central section. However, one of the links to the national railway is a single line squeezed between the houses.Here SY 1319 brings in some empty coal wagons transferring from the CNR yard. At the time this line was also electrified but since then the electric locomotives have all been taken out of service whilst the steam locomotives carry on alongside new diesels as they arrive.

Access to the workshops of the Fuxin Mining Administration was difficult as permission was always refused by the management on site. I managed to obtain this shot of an SY undergoing a heavy repair by walking in at shift change before management arrived. Nobody stopped me and I grabbed a few shots and departed before anyone in authority noticed. :-)

The many level crossings at Fuxin cause significant traffic holdups when rail traffic is high. SY 1319 shunts across with coal tippers whilst the locals patiently wait.

The Fuxin mining railway has several crossings in the town where the locals pay little attention as the SY class locomotives go about their daily work.

It's morning shift change on the Fuxin Coal Railway and a crew member is busy with an oily rag on the wheels of an SY class locomotive.

The waiting traffic at this level crossing in Fuxin occupies the whole width of the roadway. Of course a similar situation is to be found on the other side of the tracks and things will become interesting once the barriers are slid aside. :-D

The driver has ensured that his personal transport will be available wherever he finishes his shift on the Fuxin Coal Railway.

SY 0770 brings a local passenger service towards Wulong station on the Fuxin Coal Railway in North-East China. The cooling towers of the power plant dominate the whole city.
