Action at Caiziba on the Shibanxi Railway as C2 No.17 charges through the station with a freight in the Bagu direction.

The coal traffic on the Shibanxi Coal Railway has ended with the closure of the small mines above Bagou. As the line transforms from providing a local service to a tourist railway the opportunities for seeing freight traffic are minimal. I was lucky during my 2017 visit to coincide with movements of bricks, sand and stones for reconstruction of some of the viewing platforms on the line. Having dropped of its load in section the train is seen climbing into the loop at Caiziba before locomotive No.17 runs round for the return journey. The hospital building on the left is now empty and decaying fast.

The track gang take a well earned rest on the railway themed seating at Caiziba on the Shibanxi Railway as C2 No.17 charges through the station with a freight. This station has been modernised for the tourist traffic and now boasts a shop and a half-decent toilet block. We were able to dine here on noodles and beer whilst the action took place right in front.
