Halton Mission Church near Chirk. Built in 1878 as a Mission Room, as part of the evangelising of the district undertaken by the Rev Joseph Maude of Chirk. It is Grade II listed and is now a private house.

The Kronospan plant at Chirk in North Wales produces wood based panel products and laminated flooring. This is the third largest manufacturing plant in the world for MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) and consumes over 1.5 million tonnes of timber a year. 670 people are employed here.
