This kiln is high up on the fellside above the village of Gunnerside. The climb was steep and hot but the sight of this substantial kiln structure was reward enough for the effort.

Having climbed the hill on the north side of Gunnerside the view up Swaledale revealed the vast number of field barns to be found in the Yorkshire Dales.

On a day out looking for limekilns this is the view up Swaledale from on top of the kiln at Potting high up above Gunnerside. It must have been hard going climbing up here to start work each day.
