Neil Shaw, Business Development Manager, for Hayley Group and Candice Mettetal, Global Business Development Manager for Opsial, at the Hayley stand during the Hillhead quarry exhibition. I had a very interesting chat about personal safety equipment with these knowledgeable professionals and am looking forward to trying out my new gloves for handling logs. Thanks guys, it was a pleasure to meet you.

Limekiln country

Large commercial intermittent limekilns remains at Clogau Bach, Pen Rhiw-ddu, Carmarthenshire. The mounds below each kiln comprise the ashes and waste material from each burning. The track for the carts that carried away the burned lime runs between kilns on the left and the waste tips on the right. The hillsides in this area are just a mass of limeburning remains and must have been a very busy place around 1800.

Ladmanlow

The embankment once carried the Cromford and High Peak Railway on its way over the moors to Whaley Bridge via several rope worked inclines. Abandoned in 1892 from this point to the west, the stub was retained, initially to serve the Goyt Colliery siding, the trackbed of which can be seen running behind the signpost. When the colliery closed services were cut back to Ladmanlow Yard on the other side of the main road that runs just above the siding at this point.
