Fastolff doorway

Fastolff House was built as offices in 1908 to the design of R S Cockrill in a superb Art Nouveau style. The ‘W’ on this side door probably refers to James Williment who developed this block. Sadly somebody has recently placed the number 29 across it. The building is listed Grade II.

The Royal Arcade in Norwich was designed by local architect George Skipper in 1899. It is a marvellous piece of Art Nouveau architecture including this impressive entrance with lots of glazed terracotta. The arcade is listed Grade II*.

The Central Public Library on Garrick Street was completed in1900-1902 to the designs of H.T.Hare. The Grade II listed building is a mixture of styles with Art Nouveau vying with the Classical. This particular detail is very definitely from the Art Nouveau side.

Barker Brothers

Lovely art nouveau glasswork over the entrance to Barker Brothers' Unity Works, 2-26 Constitution Hill, Birmingham. Herbert Edward Barker and Matthias Barker traded under the style Barker Brothers at Unity Works, Paradise Street, Birmingham from 1885. In 1903 they moved to the new Unity Works from where the firm operated until the 1980's, latterly as Barker Ellis Silver Co Ltd. Due to a sign for the Pakistani Consulate being placed over the outside, I had to move inside and then flip the image horizontally to make the writing legible.
