The 420mw Shoreham gas turbine power station was opened in 2000. It was originally owned by South Coast Power Ltd, a consortium of Scottish Power and SEEBOARD (owned by Central and South West Corporation). It was later owned and operated by Drax Generation Enterprise Ltd, before being sold in February 2021 to Vitol (VPI Holdings Ltd). The station stands on the site of the former Brighton 'B' power station and uses the original seawater cooling inlets and outflows.

Joseph Firbank was a contractor who was responsible for the building of railways in many parts of Britain in the nineteenth century. This brick came from a bridge on the Lewes and East Grinstead Railway, better known today as the Bluebell Railway. Firbank was the contractor for this line which opened in 1882.

Somebody does not like the idea of canal restoration on their land! Arun Navigation near Wisborough Green, West Sussex. Shows an interesting mindset. I wonder if they were expecting a sudden arrival of a large band of navvies with shovels and wheelbarrows. 'We're going to restore the navigation'!!!!!!

United Marine Aggregates is a joint venture between Hanson and Tarmac and it is one of the largest suppliers of marine sand and gravel in the UK, and currently operates a fleet of four dredgers in licensed areas of the North Sea, English Channel and Bristol Channel and North West. The Shoreham site receives marine dredged aggregate from ships owned by UMA and Hanson Aggregates Marine. Its main purpose being to wash, screen and grade the incoming material before distribution.
