The Roystone Grange limestone quarry was developed around the time of the First World War and this magazine was constructed well away from the workings. It remains in good condition although now inhabited by sheep.

The Conwy stone quarries are easily visible from the A55 a short distance west of the tunnel under the estuary. A microgranite was worked here during the nineteenth century under a number of quarry owners. A series of inclines connected at least four levels with the mill and loading bunkers on a siding off the Chester and Holyhead Railway. Closure came at some point between 1936 and 1945 after an agreement was reached to supply the North Wales Granite Co Ltd with stone from Penmaenmawr. This is the explosives magazine just below the workings.

Eddisbury Hill Colliery was operated by J T Brocklehurst & Sons Ltd of Hurdsfield Mills, Macclesfield, presumably to provide coal for boilers although some fireclay was also worked here. It seems that the pit was sunk soon after 1918 and in the last year of coal winding (1923) employed 3 men underground and 2 on the surface. This is the magazine for the pit which was a landmark from the Buxton Road until demolished a few years ago when the pit spoil heap was also levelled.

This unassuming building standing alone in the fields was once the magazine for the Poynton Collieries. The need for a remote location is obvious as was the design with strong brick walls and a light roof which would channel any explosion upwards. A few years ago the roof had been stripped and the future for the building looked poor, but the landowner has now had it repaired.
