The closed Newbridge Quarry at Pickering had this Foden tanker parked up looking sad and with no work to do. I suspect this is a former military vehicle.
Blades on the bridge

Whilst waiting for the train at Kyle of Lochalsh we were surprised to see three windmill blades being transported across the Skye Bridge away from the Island. I would love to know where they were coming from and where they were going. I can only surmise that these had been taken from an existing structure and replaced by new ones.

Foden dump trucks in an advert from Mines and Mineral Engineering, Sept 1970. These vehicles look both small and rather dated compared with modern vehicles. The photo seems to have been taken at the Craigahulliar (sometimes written as Craignahulliar) quarry located 3km SE of Portrush. It was worked by Portrush Columnar Basalt Company Ltd. until the 1980s and has subsequently been used as a refuse tip.

Mrs Tarboat and I pass the hours whilst on long car journeys watching out for the slogans on the goods vehicles that we pass. Some can be mildly amusing whilst others are just factual, and then there are the pretentious nonsense types such as this.

A brand new steam wagon for Sneyd Collieries Ltd, simmers outside the Foden works in Sandbach. The Cheshire registration indicates that the year is 1918.

Electric vehicles

The central power plant of the City of Stoke-on-Trent Electricity Department at Hanley was started up on 10th April 1913. This allowed a three-phase supply in bulk to the undertakings of Burslem, Hanley, Longton and Stoke. Demand was such that the plant was extended in 1919 and 1922. The Electricity Department operated a fleet of electric vehicles as seen in this view from c1920 outside the power house at Hanley.
I have no information about the vehicles and would welcome further details.
