Locomotives outside the shed at Wernigerode after a day's work on the Harzquerbahn.

Taken from the train at Oschersleben whilst travelling from Halberstadt to Magdeburg. This tower stands alongside what was the site of the locomotive depot. The representation of the Deutsche Reichsbahn emblem in yellow brick is unusual.

There aren't many hotels where you get a view as good as this. Looking from my room in the hotel at Wernigerode I could see the yard of the Harzquerbahn locomotive shed.
