Amidst a forest of semaphore signals QJ 6911 starts the eastbound morning pasenger service from the loop at Yamenmiao on the Jitong Railway. A cold northerly wind whips the exhaust away across the landscape of the Mongolian Autonomous Region.

A doubleheaded freight gets started from the loop at Yamenmiao on the Jitong Railway and heads for Chabuga. It had been held there awaiting a westbound service. There was a strong northerly wind blowing and I remember it being bitterly cold even though it was late April.

QJ 7143 hauling QJ 7037 dead at the front of a long freight heads west on the approaches to the station at Yamenmiao on the Jitong Railway. It was a bitterly cold and windy morning, but well worth getting up early for a view such as this.
