Manor Mill

Manor Mill in Chadderton was built in 1906 to the design of G. Stott for Manor Mill Ltd. There were 91,136 spindles. Production ceased in 1932 but it was reopened by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in 1940 and passed to Courtaulds in 1964 with Textile production finishing in 1990. It was listed Grade II in 1993. The mill is now occupied by household goods branding and distribution company Ultimate Products.

Designed by P. S. Stott (his first mill) and built in 1885 by the Chadderton Mill Co Ltd, the Chadderton Mill saw a number of extensions over the next fifty years. Spinning ended in 1989 and then it reverted to doubling, and finally winding, before being sold by Courtaulds to Shiloh Spinners who continued working here until June 2000. The engine installed was by Hick, Hargreaves & Co and produced 1,100hp.

The Ace Mill was built in 1914 as the Gorse No.2 Mill, to the design of P.S. Stott. A 2000hp Urmson & Thompson engine was installed. Immediately requisitioned for aircraft production in WWI, cotton spinning did not begin until 1919 at which time it was renamed by the owners, Ace Mill Ltd. Later ownership included the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in the 1930s, and Courtaulds Ltd in 1964 until production ended in 1967. The mill is currently occupied by electrical equipment company MEM-Delta.

Ram Mill tower

Ram Mill in Chadderton was built in 1907 for the Ram Spinning Co Ltd. The design was by Stott & Sons to allow extension as a double mill in future, although this never happened. It closed temporarily in 1931 and reopened in 1934. Hagues Textiles took over after WWII and production ended in 1971. The building is now in multiple occupation as Ram Mill Business Park. The terracotta and yellow brickwork is by Dennis of Ruabon whilst the red brick is from the Rochdale Brick Co Ltd.

Production ceased in 1932 but was restarted by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in 1940 and passed to Courtaulds in 1964. Production finished in 1990 and, after an abortive heritage centre proposal, the mill is now occupied by wholesale specialists Ultimate Products.
