An eastbound freight climbs steadily past the village of Simingyi on the Jinpeng section of the Jitong railway.

Eastbound freight headed by a pair of QJs just leaving the Simingyi viaduct on the Jinpeng section of the Jitong Railway. This railway was only completed in December 1995 and was entirely steam operated over this section until October 2004 when the first diesels appeared over Jinpeng. Steam was gone from the whole line by the end of 2005.

One of the classic angles on the Simingyi viaduct on the Jinpeng section of the Jitong Railway. Two QJ class locomotives pound across as they haul a heavy eastbound train towards the summit. For once the Jinpeng wind is pushing the exhaust away from the camera. Sadly scenes such as this can now only be seen on special occasions if the railway has a steam festival such as it ran in early 2008.
