Tegg's Nose from the west

12 Feb 2008 239
One of the joys of living in Macclesfield is the view from the town of the hills on the edge of the Peak National Park. This view taken across Macclesfield from near Gawsworth Road emphasises the ridges as the land rises. In the centre is Higher Blakelow Farm with Blakelow behind, then comes Tegg's Nose Country Park with the quarry land covered in heather and bilberry. The highest land in the background is the northern part of Macclesfield Forest with the conifers planted on the catchment for the reservoirs at Trentabank and Ridgegate. Only the forest area falls within the National Park.

Shutlingsloe from Gun End

08 Aug 2007 216
A bright but coolish sunny morning was ideal for a walk around Gun and Swythamley in Staffordshire. This view is to the north into Cheshire and shows Shutlingsloe in the centre and Shining Tor (highest point in Cheshire) right background.

Cumberland Cottage

On a perfect late winter/early spring day this is Cumberland Cottage in a remote spot up the Cumberland Brook in Wildboarclough, Cheshire. The building has survived the retreat of farming from the uplands as it has been acquired by the Scouts as a camping base.
