W G Bagnall / Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns diesel hydraulic locomotive 3211 / 8366 of 1962 at Chasewater. The loco was new to R.O.F. Pembrey in 1962 having been completed at Darlington from a kit of parts after Brush took over Bagnall. After a stint at Glascoed it was sold to dealer Alan Keef from where it was sold to Tarmac and heavily cut down for use of the Jubilee Line extension in London with the name 'Myfanwy'. In 2003 it was purchased for preservation at Foxfield and later moved to Chasewater where a project to reinstate the cab to full height was completed in 2019. It is seen here running during the Industrial Railway Society AGM visit to Chasewater in 2021.

The reincarnation of Holly Bank No.3 heads a short mineral train onto the causeway with the drained reservoir as a background. The weather may have been dull, but the photoshoot was a lot of fun and the Chasewater volunteers could not have done more to make the day go well.

Railtours the old way
20 Apr 2013 |

Time was when a tour of an industrial railway was undertaken with the participants climbing into wagons for the journey. To remember the old ways a nostalgic wagon trip was arranged on the Chasewater Light Railway for members of the Industrial Railway Society prior to their 2013 AGM. The trip was blessed with warm sunshine and a good time was had by all. Even the smuts were authentic!
