Loading bunker at Zeche Göttelborn. This was part of the remodelling of this pit in the early 1990s. The new Shaft 4 commenced production in 1995 after the expenditure of 200 million euros on development of the colliery to raise 2.5 million tonnes of coal per year. It closed along with the rest of the pit in 2000.

Camphausen shafts 2 and 4

The Camphausen colliery at Fischbach-Camphausen was sunk in 1871 with two deep shafts and in 1874 a third shaft was added. In 1908 the fourth shaft was sunk with a hammerhead winding tower made of reinforced concrete which was completed in 1912. The Federal Chamber of Engineers has designated it a historic engineering landmark. The tower has a height of 40.7 metres and stands on four supporting pillars, each eleven metres below the ground. On the top floor there are two electric winders by AEG, each with an output of 1740 kilowatts. The colliery became absorbed into the Reden-Camphausen mining complex in January 1990 and coal mining ended here in November 1990.

Furnaces and Cowper Stoves at Völklingen. The Völklingen Ironworks is a former blast-furnace complex located in the German town of Völklingen, Saarland. Pig iron production occurred at the site from 1882 through 1986. As one of the only intact ironworks surviving from the 19th and early-20th centuries in Europe and North America, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994 because of its exceptional preservation and its testimony to ferrous metallurgy and the Industrial Revolution.

Kraftwerk Weiher III

Iron torpedoes being shunted across an internal level crossing and under the No.4 blast furnace at the Dillingen steelworks. A close look into the building shows slag being teemed into ladles to be taken away for tipping. The locomotive is Henschel DHG 500 C 31112 of 1965. Dillinger Hütte GTS specialises in the production of heavy plate. The company was founded in Founded in 1685 and is Germany's oldest joint stock corporation.

Völklingen Ironworks

In 1881 Carl Röchling began construction of an ironworks at Völklingen. Production began two years later and whilst improvements were made for a number of years the works remains as an example of pig iron production in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The plant closed in 1986 and is now a world heritage site and museum.

The headframes at the Göttelborn colliery show three distinct phases of development. The central frame on Shaft 3 was erected in 1925/6 by the engineering firm Geisler, whilst the nearest shaft 2 was completed in 1940. Just visible is the massive 90 metre headframe over the 1160 metre, 9 metre in diameter, shaft 4 which is the tallest such structure in the world. Shaft 4 commenced production in 1995 after the expenditure of 200 million euros on development of the colliery to raise 2.5 million tonnes of coal per year. It closed along with the rest of the pit in 2000.

The Velsen coal mine was sunk in 1899 and the Gustav II shaft was developed between 1913 and 1917. In 1965 the mine was amalgamated into the Warndt complex which finally closed in 2005 with this shaft then being partially filled. The surviving surface buildings and headgear of the Gustav II shaft are considered a "top-class ensemble" of the Saarland mining industry and are listed structures. Inside the winding house is preserved the original steam winding engine made at the Dingler works.
