Hinkley C

On the south side of the Bristol Channel is the construction site for the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station which will consist of two pressurised water reactors producing 3,200 megawatts of electricity.
When it is finally completed, Hinkley Point C will be the most expensive power station in the world. To pay for it, the British government has entered into a complex financial agreement with Électricité de France (EDF), the energy giant that is 83% owned by the French government, and China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN), a state-run Chinese energy company. Under this contract, British electricity consumers will pay billions over a 35-year period.

Opened in 1971, the Seaforth Dock site in the Port of Liverpool occupies about 500 acres, of which 85 acres is water. The dock was the largest built in the United Kingdom for some time, with 10,000 ft (3,000 m) of quay and a depth of 50 ft. A large part of the dock is dedicated to container traffic and these are four of the eight cranes used for containers.

At the Street Cranes factory in Chapel-en-le-Frith this rail trolley is used for moving heavy fabrications around the works. Note that the wheels have central flanges.

Liverpool2 is a container terminal extension adjoining the River Mersey in Seaforth, Merseyside. The extension, built by Peel Ports, officially opened on 4 November 2016 and is an expansion of the Seaforth Dock container terminal. It is able to accommodate two 13,500 TEU New-Panamax vessels simultaneously using eight Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company Limited built Megamax ship-to-shore cranes delivered from Shanghai in to batches in 2015 and 2017. The blue cranes in the background serve the original Seaforth Dock container terminal. Transatlantic trade seems to dominate the business here but the lack of shipping at the terminal suggests that it is operating at nowhere near capacity.

Statues from Anthony Gormley's 'Another Place' on Crosby beach. I like the view in this direction because of the industrial background, comprising the Seaforth container terminal, which adds a lot to the overall atmosphere.

We were heading for a pub lunch and turned a corner to find another vista with cranes. Sheffield seems to be the Dubai of the north when it comes to tower cranes.
