Since 2014 the Seraing plant has been part of Belgium's strategic power reserve and is called on to generate electricity only at times of shortage. The station is currently managed by EDF Luminus but at the time I took the photo it was under the Belgian company SPE.

Ampsin limekilns

In 1919, Hippolyte Dumont built three lime kilns at Ampsin near Liège. A large lime and cement works was developed here and flourished until c1970 when the Dumont-Wautier Company built the new rotary kiln in its nearby quarry. These old kilns are 11 metres deep and 6 metres in diameter.

Prayon, Engis

Prayon manufactures an extensive range of phosphate and fluorine products that are used in food applications, industrial applications, fertilizers and other applications such as pharmaceuticals. Their Engis plant sprawls alongside the Meause to the west of Liège.

Le Jumeau
