On my way back across London I was tempted to grab a few shots of the scenery. I believe that the agglomeration of buildings seen here form part of the square mile that is the City of London. No doubt important money type things were being done there at that very moment. :-o I only took a few shots as my little camera decided to develop an annoying fault that involved it not working more than intermittently. Time to switch to backup no.2 I think.

View from my hotel room on arrival in Hegang in the far north-east corner of Heilonjiang Province. The gathering dusk after snow brought the apartment blocks of the city into sharp focus. This is a hard place to live and work and yet there is a real determination about the population who maintain a strong sense of humour. The civic art around the city comprises a number of sculptures based on famous buildings around the world and well known art. Thus you can see the Sydney Opera House, Venus de Milo and Eiffel Tower within a very short distance before moving on the Rodin's Thinker and other gems. The roundabouts have a wildlife theme which ranges from sea life to penguins and polar bears to deer and pandas and finally to the roundabout of the dinosaurs!

Sunset behind the city of Manzhouli close to the Russian border in the north-west of the Mongolian Autonomous Region of China. This city has grown massively in the last fifteen years and is now a major trading centre with Russia.
