RFA Fort Victoria is a Fort-class combined fleet stores ship and tanker of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary of the United Kingdom tasked with providing ammunition, fuel, food and other supplies to Royal Navy vessels around the world. The ship displaces 31,565 tons. In this view the ship is in dock at Cammell Laird Shipbuilders at Brikenhead where it was undergoing a refit that included engine upgrades.

Faded glory

Redundant railway and ship at Birkenhead Docks. It is some time since the wagon turntable saw use whilst the RMS St Helena only came out of service in 2018 as the passenger and supply ship serving the remote island of the same name. It subsequently served for a shore period as a floating armoury in the Gulf of Oman. The ship is said to now be under conversion to a mobile hub for the race events of the Extreme E electric SUV racing series.

Pier Hotel, Birkenhead

The Pier Hotel was built about 1860 and later a single storey extension was added to which the Birkenhead Brewery Company built this green terracotta frontage with a wonderful brewery emblem. Subsequently this section of the building has had three floors added in an incongruous style. Meanwhile the pub has stood empty for several years.

East Float Mill

East Float corn mill is thought to have been built in 1850 to the design of G F Lyster. Today it stands almost alone alongside the remains of Birkenhead Docks and has been converted to apartments.
