This pair of limekilns is just across the River Wear from Stanhope adjacent to the former Newlandside Quarry. The structure is in an advanced state of collapse but the position of the four draw holes is still apparent.

Disused limekiln at Stanhope, County Durham. This is fairly typical of kilns found in the area and has two draw tunnels serving a single large pot.

Old quarry buildings are rare survivors these days, so I was delighted to find this structure at the disused Newlandside Quarry near Stanhope, County Durham.
