The red rose of Lancashire on the 1927 built Rose Hill United Reform Church in Bolton, all in fine local terracotta. Such pride and detail in architecture is rare in new construction these days.

Terracotta panel on the wall of the Hafod brickworks that was built by Henry Dennis who traded as Dennis, Ruabon. There is another panel close by with the date of 1893 and this is probably of a similar date.

This type of gatepost ornamentation is fairly common in the Glossop and New Mills area. These examples are in the wall of a Bungalow on Marsh Lane in New Mills. I expect that they are a product of the Glossop Brick works.

Tower Building

The Tower Building on Water Street, Liverpool, stands opposite the Royal Liver Building. It was constructed between 1906 and 1910 to the design of W. Aubrey Thomas who was also responsible for the latter building. The greyish-white terracotta faience is by Doulton and was intended to be self-cleaning. The battlements are a reference to the Tower of Liverpool which once stood on the site. Once offices, the upper floors have now been converted to apartments. The building is listed Grade II*.
