Ice Cream boat.

29 Nov 2014 13 7 1371
A former tug-boat on the Leeds-Liverpool canal at Skipton, Yorkshire, in the North-West of England. This boat is now used to supply "essentials" (tea, coffee and ice cream in Summer) to tourists and canal-boat users. Photographed with a Sony RX100 compact camera and processed with Nikon Capture NX2 software.

You have been warned !! HFF

My four-legged friend.

Photographed in a field near Brierfield, North-West England, using a Sony RX100 compact camera and processed with Nikon Capture NX2. This was taken from close range and I think she was trying to decide whether or not my camera was edible. Goats will eat (or try to eat) almost anything !!

"Bearded Lady".

19 Jun 2014 8 8 1031
We found this "nanny" goat (and 3 others) tethered on a long chain in a field during a walk to Raven's Clough Wood yesterday. She was very nervous at first but I managed to "bribe" her with some juicy grass which was out of her reach and eventually I was able to get within touching distance and take a few close-up photos. The "bleep" of the camera focussing startled her at first but the fresh grass proved too good to resist ! Photographed with a Sony RX100 compact camera and processed with Nikon Capture NX2.

When shall we three meet again?

"What are these, so withered, and so wild in their attire, that look not like th' inhabitants o' the Earth, and yet are on't ?" (Shakespeare: Macbeth). This photograph was taken with one of my first digital cameras, an Olympus AZ-1 compact which had a very low-resolution sensor by today's standards. Photographed outside "Witches Galore", a Gift and Souvenir shop in the village of Newchurch-in-Pendle, Lancashire, North-West England. Processed with Nikon NX2 software. (Title & quote from "The Scottish play").

"One man went to mow"....by car.

Another shot from the archives, photographed in the grounds of Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland, North-East England. This is a great way to mow the lawn......assuming you have a castle-sized one !! Photographed with an Olympus SP550UZ "bridge camera" and processed with Nikon Capture NX2 software.

Wooden bear.

This sculpture of a wooden bear was seen by the side of a track during a walk through the woods at Barrowford, Lancashire, UK. Photographed with a Sony RX100 and processed using Nikon Capture NX2. www.ipernity.com/group/sony.rx100/doc

Security overload.

01 Jul 2013 10 7 1415
Seen on the Leeds-Liverpool canal near Colne, UK. They say "An Englishman's home is his castle" but this seems to be taking security a little too far for a wooden shed in the middle of nowhere :-) Camera: Panasonic TZ10.

Double trouble.

Are we there yet ?

02 Jul 2013 19 7 1551
Two Jackdaws, photographed using a Nikon D300s & Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 lens in "continuous high-speed" mode (7fps). Background effect from PicMonkey. The idea for the title came from the expression on the top bird's face....a question which will be familiar to anyone who has ever travelled with young children :-)

Quietly waiting.

01 Jul 2013 16 11 1625
One of the very first photographs I took when I bought my first DSLR (Nikon D90), taken from an upstairs window using the 18-105mm "kit" lens. The cat didn't seem too pleased that I had discovered her hiding place under a large shrub....I think she was waiting for a bird to come within reach :-)

Witchgrass car.

A Car covered in "Witchgrass", a type of artificial grass made of monofilaments. Camera: Nikon D300s. Lens Nikkor 16-85mm.
