Brierfield town centre at night, photographed with the camera's white-balance set to "daylight" in order to bring out the colours of the different types of artificial lighting in the scene. This often results in some unexpected effects....for example, the green structure on the left (a war memorial) is actually illuminated by lights which, to the human eye, appear almost colourless. The Christmas tree and the street lights are the same as they appear to the naked eye whilst the shop lights on the far right have a yellowish appearance, although they are actually green & white. Seen on a road in Barrowford, Pendle district, in the North-West of England. This sign was next to (but not around) a large hole in the pavement ("sidewalk" for U.S. /Australian viewers).......apparently United Utilities (water suppliers) don't like to work at the weekend (photographed on a Sunday) !!.
