Canada geese photographed at Barrowford reservoir near Colne in Pendle district, North-West England. I had just bought a new Nikkor 200mm f2.8 lens and this is one of the first shots I took with it. The camera I used was my "elderly" Nikon D300s.....an excellent (but, with a combined weight of 2.5kg / 5lbs, very heavy) combination which shows that you don't need lots of megapixels if you use a top-quality lens.....the D300s only has 12.3 megapixels which is quite low by today's standards.

This building, which is is now a cafe / tea-room, was originally built to unload raw cotton imported from North America during the height of the textile industry in this region during the 18th and 19th Centuries. The newly-planted (at the time) Lily pond on the Heslington campus of York University, England, UK. The buildings surrounding this area are some of the Halls of Residence (the most sought-after ones because of the great views). Camera: Olympus Camedia C-1 (low resolution).

The Mallard or Wild Duck (Anas platyrhynchos) is a dabbling duck which breeds throughout the temperate and subtropical Americas, Europe, Asia, and North Africa, and has been introduced to New Zealand and Australia.
