A "sign of the times" which is becoming more common during the present circumstances. I'm not sure how effective these masks are outdoors....my friend who is a fully-qualified SRN tells me that they are only designed to protect patients from medical staff in a "hospital environment". The surgical gloves that this family are wearing are a good idea though, especially for people who live in shared accommodation such as flats / apartments where many residents are touching "communal" door-handles etc. Thoughts, anyone? An old photograph from 2003.....these men were attempting to remove a concrete block as part of the "modernisation" of a local school's sports-fields. I saw this old man with the young boy standing in the entrance to a garage across the street so I grabbed a quick "candid" shot with my new camera to see how it performs with portraiture. A copy of a pre-digital photograph originally taken in 2003 on the banks of the river Ouse in York, England. The birds in the foreground are Greylag geese which have been in York since Roman times (and a few pigeons) all of which are quite used to people in this tourist town. As soon as you produce food you'll be surrounded by them within minutes.

Photographed with my new telephoto lens (Nikkor AF-S VR 70-300mm zoom) which I bought in Preston yesterday. Considering that this photo was taken hand-held through double-glazed windows I'm very pleased with the results, especially as I got it for a lot less than the "recommended" retail price.
