Eén van de kleurrijke tradities die Nederland kent is het broodbeleg. Niet alleen kaas, vleeswaar, pindakaas en jam, maar zeker ook hagelslag. Op de foto een boterham met vruchtenhagel, in sommige kringen beter bekend als ‘feestverlichting’ of ‘technicolor’. Hoewel de naam suggereert dat er vruchten in zitten, is dit eigenlijk lariekoek. Wat er aan vruchten – appels – in zit, is niet te proeven. De gezondheidswaarde van dit broodbeleg is nul komma nul, maar dat is dan ook totaal onbelangrijk. Although the name suggests there are fruits in, but this is actually pure nonsense. What there is in fruits, apples, is impossible to taste. Then, the health value of this topping is zero point nothing, pointless and absolutely unimportant. Important are the sweetness, colours and crunchyness.
